MAINLY SUNNY TODAY; RAIN & STORMS POSSIBLE ON TUESDAY… Today will likely be the driest day out of the next 7 days with rain chances set to rise on Tuesday into Wednesday. High temperatures today will be in the low- to mid-80s. Showers and thunderstorms will return to our forecast on Tuesday. We note the Storm Prediction Center has included parts of Mississippi in their Level 1 (out of 5) low-end severe weather risk valid for Tuesday with the risk stretching into the far western portions of Alabama. More showers and storms will be possible on Wednesday ahead of a cold front arriving on Thursday into Friday that will significantly knock down our temperature values. High temperatures by Friday may not get out of the upper-60s! Let’s look at a few forecast details.

SHOWERS & STORMS POSSIBLE ON TUESDAY… Showers and thunderstorms will become possible on Tuesday, primarily in the afternoon and evening hours. The Storm Prediction Center has added a low-end, Level 1 (out of 5) marginal severe weather risk for much of Mississippi, northeast Louisiana, and the far western parts of Alabama. Parts of Choctaw, Washington, Sumter, Greene, and Pickens counties are included in the low-end risk zone. The concern is that a few of the storms on Tuesday may ramp up and briefly produce gusty winds and hail. The overall tornado risk remains very low.

UNSETTLED MIDWEEK AHEAD… Scattered showers and thunderstorms will remain possible on Wednesday into Thursday ahead of an advancing cold front. Our region will be in the warm, moist sector out ahead of the front during the middle part of this week. High temperatures on Thursday will probably make a run at 90 degrees in most spots.

MUCH COOLER AIR ARRIVES FRIDAY… Cooler temperatures will be in place on Friday into Saturday after a cold front moves across our region. Highs will drop into the low- to mid-70s with morning lows expected to be in the 50s by the time we get to the upcoming weekend.
