The morning forecast video will be posted at 9AM. I’m in the process of uploading an album of tornado damage photos across the Deep South that will debut at 7AM. See the latest forecast discussion below.

MOSTLY SUNNY TODAY; RAIN POSSIBLE MIDWEEK AHEAD OF COOLER TEMPS… Whew! Clouds are on the way out behind the severe weather that happened yesterday into last night and early this morning. We gave the severe weather “all clear” for our local area at 2:45AM. Since then, our weather pattern has started to drastically calm down. There are scattered areas of damage that happened because of the straight line winds and embedded tornadoes across our region, but clearly southeast Mississippi and north-central Alabama took the brunt of the significant tornado damage. At least 7 people passed away in southeast Mississippi due to the violent tornadoes that happened there.

NICE, WARM MONDAY… Mostly sunny skies are expected on this Monday since clouds are clearing out to the east. High temperatures will peak in the mid-80s today. The air will feel quite warm, but not as humid and oppressive as yesterday when dewpoint values were well into the 70s.

SHOWERS POSSIBLE TUESDAY INTO WEDNESDAY… Our next chance of rain will happen Tuesday afternoon through Wednesday when an area of low pressure will move by our region. We’ll call it a 30% chance of rain Tuesday P.M. into a 50% chance of rain on Wednesday. There may be a few thunderstorms involved, but as of now, the overall risk of severe weather remains very low.

COOLER TEMPS ARRIVE WEDNESDAY… High temperatures will drop from the mid-80s on Tuesday to the mid-70s on Wednesday as much cooler air arrives behind a cold front early Wednesday morning. Overnight lows by Thursday morning will be in the upper-40s across inland areas with low-50s likely closer to the coast.

RAIN & STORMS POSSIBLE THIS WEEKEND… Showers and thunderstorms will again become possible this weekend. I hate to say this after what we went through yesterday, but some model guidance has alluded to the fact that some strong to severe storms may be involved. It is April in the Deep South, after all, and this is the type of thing we should expect during our primary severe weather season which runs through the end of the month. Regardless of if a severe weather risk sets up, I’ll bring you the latest over the next few days both on Facebook and in the RedZone Weather app.

APP… If you haven’t already downloaded the RedZone Weather app, now is a great time to do that. redzoneweather.com/app is the link to the free download. Once you have the RZW app installed on your iOS or Android device, be sure to visit the Alerts tab to turn on the specific notifications you’d like to receive. All notifications are handcrafted by me. No automation and we promise not to bug you!

Have a nice Monday!
