FEW SHOWERS POSSIBLE EARLY; SUNNY THIS AFTERNOON & THURSDAY… After a few showers this morning, most of the afternoon hours are expected to be sunny on this Wednesday. High temperatures will be much cooler than the last few days with most spots peaking around the 70 degree mark. Thursday is set to be dry ahead of showers and thunderstorms returning to our weather forecast for the weekend. There has been some model guidance suggesting the possibility of active weather late Saturday into early Sunday, but the overall risk of severe weather (for now) remains low. Let’s look at your forecast details.

SHOWERS MOVE OUT BY MIDDAY… Most of us across the region have been dry thus far on this Wednesday morning. There have been a few showers at times. These small areas of sprinkles and light rain will move out by 10AM, giving way to sunshine for the remainder of the day. High temperatures will peak in the 68-70° range in most locales.

NICE, SUNNY THURSDAY… I expect plenty of sunshine on Thursday with high temperatures in the mid-70s. It will be a “near perfect” weather day with a light northeast wind at 5 to 10 mph.

P.M. RAIN & STORMS POSSIBLE FRIDAY… Showers, with perhaps a few embedded thunderstorms, will become possible on Friday in the afternoon and evening hours. For now, we’ll call it a 30-40% chance of rain. High temperatures on Friday will climb into the low-80s.

RAIN & STORMS LIKELY AT TIMES THIS WEEKEND… After the significant round of severe weather across the Deep South, including scattered reports of trees down locally due to tornadoes (in Clarke and Wilcox counties) and damaging straight line winds (across the region), I can understand that this statement would give anxiety to a lot of folks. Let me emphasize though, the event and the overall synoptic setup last weekend was unusual and was not a “run of the mill” severe weather event. The potential round of storms this weekend will be more in line with either a low-end risk of severe weather or perhaps just a general rain event. We could have a few thunderstorms involved for the upcoming weekend, perhaps some being strong under some scenarios. At this moment, I would suggest there is a greater chance we’ll have rain and general thunderstorms. We’ll keep watching as details come in and I’ll bring you the latest in the RedZone Weather app.

APP ALERTS… If you haven’t already, be sure to download the free RedZone Weather app to keep up with all the latest information on the world of weather in south Alabama and northwest Florida. redzoneweather.com/app is the link for the free download.
