WILDFIRE EMERGENCY SOUTH OF MILTON; NEW EVACUATION ORDERS… The wildfire south of Milton/Pace is now threatening a large area in Santa Rosa County. Interstate 10 is now CLOSED between Exit 22 (Avalon Blvd.) and Exit 31 (Highway 87). New evacuation orders have just been recommended for ALL residents south of Interstate 10 from Escambia Bay to Blackwater Bay. All residents south of I-10 in Santa Rosa County to the Garcon Point Bridge are recommended to evacuate!

This is a rapidly evolving situation. If you do not feel safe in your home, you should leave now if you’re in these areas. Take your pets with you!

We encourage everyone to avoid this area as firefighters and emergency responders are actively trying to conduct mitigation. If you know a resident or a person that may be in this area, tag them!

TWO OTHER FIRES… We are receiving numerous reports of two other wildfires in Santa Rosa County this evening. One is happening near the Wallace community and the other is happening near Berryhill Road north of Milton/Pace. Note these are two other, separate wildfires from the main one south of I-10.

NO BURNING TODAY… It cannot be stressed enough: Due to the low humidity values and strong north wind, any burning today is dangerous. We note the Storm Prediction Center has included our area in a rare elevated wildfire risk zone today.

ROAD CLOSURE… In addition to the stretch of I-10, Garcon Point Road between Mary Kitchens Road and Interstate 10 is now closed.
