LOWER RAIN CHANCES TODAY; HOT TEMPS THIS WEEKEND… Most of us across south Alabama and northwest Florida will remain dry on this Friday. We’ll call it a 30-40% chance of showers and storms, and even that percentage may be a bit on the generous side. Rain chances are set to remain a bit lower today and tomorrow compared to the last few days and compared to higher rain chances next week. Lower rain chances generally mean higher temperatures during this time of year, and today and tomorrow will be no exception to that rule. High temperatures today and tomorrow will be in the mid- to upper-90s with heat index values near 105° in most spots during the afternoon hours. The tropics remain quiet.
ISOLATED SHOWERS POSSIBLE THIS WEEKEND… A few showers and thunderstorms could happen this weekend, but I expect most spots to remain dry. Any storms that pop up in the middle part of the day could be loud and proud, with cloud-to-ground lightning, heavy rain, and gusty winds being possible. High temperatures will be in the mid-90s this weekend with morning lows in the mid-70s.
THE TROPICS REMAIN QUIET… No tropical storm formation is expected this weekend or in the early part of next week. The Gulf of Mexico, Caribbean Sea, and north Atlantic are all quiet. Most of the deterministic models continue to paint a general picture of a quiet pattern extending through the latter half of the month.
