TROPICAL STORM NANA FORMS… That is not a typo. The 14th named storm of the 2020 Atlantic Hurricane Season is named Nana, a weak tropical storm expected to remain weak as it moves toward Belize and Honduras. No word on if this is pronounced “NA-na” (southern grandmother style) or “NAH-na” (party lyrics in a song).
NEXT NAMES… We continue to monitor Tropical Depression 15, located east of the Carolinas in the Atlantic. That system won’t affect land areas directly but it may briefly become a tropical storm in the Atlantic. The next names on the tropical cyclone naming list are: Omar, Paulette, Rene, Sally, Teddy, Vicky, and Wilfred. If/when we run out of names (a likelihood this year), we will start naming tropical storms from the Greek Alphabet: Alpha, Beta, Gamma, etc.
