HURRICANE SALLY NOW EXPLICITLY FORECAST TO MAKE LANDFALL IN ALABAMA… The 10PM advisory has shifted the overall cone of uncertainty for Hurricane Sally farther east. The landfall for the center point for Sally will likely happen somewhere between Pass Christian, Mississippi and Destin, Florida. Obviously this puts south Alabama and northwest Florida squarely in the middle of the cone of of uncertainty, meaning local impacts may be a bit worse than previously suggested. A Hurricane Warning continues from Grand Isle, Louisiana eastward to Navarre, Florida. A Tropical Storm Warning continues from Navarre, Florida eastward to Indian Pass. Significant wind impacts are now far more likely to happen near the Alabama beaches and the northwest Florida beaches due to this eastward shift in the projected path of Sally. Residents of Mobile and Baldwin counties should prepare for a significant hurricane impact. Significant impacts may also happen across parts of Escambia (FL) and Santa Rosa counties.

OFFICIAL FORECAST JUST SHY OF MAJOR HURRICANE STRENGTH… The 10PM advisory ramps up Sally to a 110 mph hurricane right before landfall. Right now, the most likely landfall point appears to be in Jackson County (MS), Mobile County (AL), or Baldwin County (AL). There is a growing chance that Sally could be a dangerous, category 3 major hurricane with max. winds of 115 to 120 mph at the time of landfall.
