MUCH COLDER NEXT WEEK; HARD FREEZE POSSIBLE BY WEDNESDAY MORNING… Significantly colder temperatures are on the way to south Alabama and northwest Florida. There is a growing chance Tuesday AND Wednesday mornings could feature below freezing temperatures in many spots. Wednesday morning could see overnight lows as low as 23-26° across inland areas of south Alabama with communities closer to the coast likely to be in the 26-31° range. While the daytime hours of Tuesday will probably feature the coldest daytime temperatures (highs in the low-50s!), the night time hours of Tuesday into Wednesday morning will almost certainly be the coldest hours of the upcoming week with lows deep in the 20s.

DENSE FOG ADVISORY OVERNIGHT… The entire local area is now involved in a Dense Fog Advisory from 11PM to 8AM on Friday. If you’re planning to go Black Friday shopping in the morning, be aware that fog could be a real issue early in the morning. All parts of Baldwin, Mobile, Washington, Clarke, Monroe, Conecuh, Butler, Covington, Escambia (AL), Santa Rosa, Escambia (FL), and Okaloosa counties are involved. If you know someone trying to go out and battle the crowds for Black Friday in the morning, please make sure they’re aware of this potential for foggy conditions.

HEAVY RAIN & STORMS THIS WEEKEND… Before our significant round of cold weather happens next week, we could have quite a soaking in store on Sunday. Scattered showers and storms will happen Saturday, but the bigger rain amounts are expected on Sunday when 1-3″ of rain may become possible. Heavy rain will be a concern at times with at least a low-end potential for a few stronger storms. Rain will clear out in the overnight hours on Sunday night into early Monday morning.

NO WINTER MISCHIEF IN SIGHT… Cold temperatures ARE in the forecast for our region early next week, but at this time there is no potential for snow or wintry precipitation. Why? In classic fashion, it looks like all of the rain and precip will be long gone by the time the cold air arrives on Monday. Skies will be clear by Monday night and remain clear into Tuesday and Wednesday.

NEXT UPDATE… I will have another forecast update posted by 7:15AM tomorrow (Friday). Until then, more updates will be posted in our free RedZone Weather app.
