CLOUDS CLEAR OUT TODAY; TEMPS NEAR FREEZING TONIGHT… Skies will become mostly sunny on this Monday as rain and most of the cloud cover from last evening have now largely exited our area. High temperatures will be in the upper-50s today. Temperatures could be just below the freezing (32°) mark around 6AM tomorrow morning, especially across inland areas of south Alabama. Overall, we have a quiet weather week upcoming with gradually increasing temperatures expected. Our next real chance of rain will happen on Saturday into Sunday. Your Monday morning forecast details are below.

SUNNY DAYS AHEAD… Sunny days and clear nights are expected at least through Thursday as a big ridge of high pressure builds in across much of the Deep South. High temperatures will rise from the upper-50s today to near 70 by the end of the week. Clouds will begin to increase in coverage on Friday into Saturday.

NEXT RAIN CHANCE THIS WEEKEND… Our next chance of showers and thunderstorms will happen on Saturday into Sunday. It is too early to know if severe storms will be an issue as this next cold front approaches our area but that is a possibility as we are in the height of our secondary tornado season. For now, plan on having scattered showers and storms around on both Saturday into Sunday. We’ll keep you posted about specifics in the days ahead.

SECOND HALF OF DECEMBER MAY BE WARMER… Long-time viewers and readers know that I do not put much stock (at all) into long range forecast solutions. The accuracy and precision simply isn’t good, to say the absolute least past the 7 day mark. With that in mind, the long range guidance has been QUITE consistent as of late suggesting the potential for the second half of December to be quite a bit warmer than our cold start to this month. We note the Climate Prediction Center continues to suggest in their longer range forecasts of an above-average chance of warmer conditions to end the month. We’ll be watching trends over the next several weeks.
