PATCHY DENSE FOG LIKELY THURSDAY MORNING; FREEZING FOG POSSIBLE… The National Weather Service says a few areas of freezing fog may be possible early Thursday morning. The greatest chance of patchy dense fog will south of a line from Chatom to Atmore to Andalusia. Some areas could briefly dip below freezing while foggy conditions are in place, resulting in freezing fog that could produce slick spots on area roadways. The main concern will be on exposed surfaces on bridges and overpasses. Please take it easy if you’re driving on Thursday morning, especially when traveling on local bridges.
This won’t be a widespread, major issue and most spots will just have some patchy areas of dense fog. Most of the area will be at or just ABOVE the freezing mark in the morning, but for those areas that dip just below freezing there could be a few slick spots. NWS Mobile has issued a Special Weather Statement for all parts of Washington, Escambia (AL), Covington, Baldwin, Mobile, Escambia (FL), Santa Rosa, and Okaloosa counties to advise motorists of the potential for patchy dense fog that could lead to freezing fog and slick bridges and overpasses.
Sunshine will quickly warm the roadways by 9AM. Full sunshine is expected on Thursday with highs likely to be in the low-60s in many spots.
