RAIN MOVES OUT TODAY; COLD TEMPERATURES AHEAD OVER NEXT FEW DAYS… Monday is set to be quite cold with high temperatures only in the upper-40s. Temperatures will dip to around 40 degrees tonight ahead of multiple nights with temperatures near or just below freezing as we start the month of February. The reason temperatures are taking a tumble is because of a cold front that is currently in the process of moving across our region from northwest to southeast. This front is over west Alabama now and will continue to move southeast in the hours ahead. Once the front passes your location, rain chances will drop to near zero. A few more Sunday evening forecast notes are below.
RAIN & STORMS MOVE OUT IN THE HOURS AHEAD… Scattered showers continue to move east across the area as of 1PM. There could be a few rumbles of thunder in some locales in the hours ahead as the back edge of the showers moves east right along the cold front that is currently moving across our region. Severe weather continues to seem quite unlikely today. We are seeing some peaks of sunshine on the western side of our region and it seems like this will be the trend in the overnight hours with scattered clouds around.
COOL DAYS & COLD NIGHTS AHEAD… Clouds will hang tough in many spots on Monday with temperatures only in the 40s throughout the day. A brisk northwest wind (8-13 mph) will cause wind chill values to remain in the upper-30s and low-40s all day. Overnight lows on Tuesday (see graphic attached) and Wednesday mornings will be near or just below the freezing mark in many spots locally.
NEXT RAIN CHANCE: FRIDAY… Looking ahead to the end of the week, temperatures will moderate to near 70 by Friday as rain chances rise. There is a chance we could see some thunderstorms by Friday, but it remains too early to know if strong or severe storms will be possible. Rain will be likely at times on Friday into Saturday, regardless of if a severe weather setup happens. We will keep you posted every step of the way over the next few days.
