A BIT WARMER TODAY; RAIN SET TO RETURN SUNDAY NIGHT… Mostly sunny skies are likely on this Wednesday with high temperatures in the upper-70s this afternoon. Temperatures are gradually warming this week, with highs forecast to be near or just above 80 degrees in the days ahead. We have a few more dry, sunny, nice days ahead through Saturday before rain chances increase on Sunday evening into Monday. A few more Wednesday forecast details are below.
HIGHS IN THE 80s STARTING FRIDAY… There is a chance some locales will hit 80 degrees on Thursday afternoon, but I expect many communities to reach the 80 degree mark on Friday and on Saturday. Warm air from the Gulf of Mexico will be a fixture of the forecast through the weekend, allowing temperatures to remain warm through Sunday. Overnight lows will consistently be in the 50s.
SCATTERED SHOWERS SUNDAY NIGHT INTO MONDAY… Our next chance of rain happens late Sunday evening into Monday and Tuesday of the upcoming week as a frontal boundary approaches our region. Rain chances will gradually rise, first in the western part of Alabama before shifting east across the region. Thunderstorms will become possible on Monday, as we should have at least some atmospheric instability in place by that time. The overall severe weather risk locally, however, remains low at this time. Some severe weather issues may be possible early next week under some scenarios, but it is too early for specifics.
SEVERE WEATHER RISKS TO OUR WEST IN DAYS AHEAD… The Storm Prediction Center has outlined multiple days of severe weather risk zones for parts of Oklahoma, Texas, Arkansas, and surrounding states in the days ahead. A large area of low pressure in the southwestern Rockies will slowly move east through the weekend, paving the way for multiple rounds of rain and storms for areas to our west.
