MAINLY SUNNY & WARM THIS AFTERNOON; SHOWERS RETURN SUNDAY NIGHT… Fog and clouds around the region will clear out later this morning giving way to a mostly sunny, warm afternoon. High temperatures on this Friday will rise into the low-80s in many spots across the region. Saturday and Sunday will have a repeat forecast, similar to today with highs in the low-80s with a mix of sunshine and clouds each day. Rain returns to our local forecast on Sunday night ahead of an area of low pressure that will pass well to our northwest. Next week will feature an increasingly unsettled pattern with multiple chances of rain and the potential for strong storms on Wednesday. A few more Friday forecast notes are below.
PATCHY DENSE FOG THIS MORNING… If you’re driving this morning before 9AM, please be aware that there are some patchy areas of dense fog across parts of south Alabama and northwest Florida this morning. Visibilities have been reduced to less than half of a mile in some cases, meaning fog is dense in some spots. This fog should clear out by 9-10AM.
QUITE NICE TODAY AND SATURDAY… Plenty of sunshine is expected today and on Saturday. High temperatures will be in the low-80s. Overnight lows on Saturday morning will be in the 52-54 degree range in many spots across the region. This will be a perfect weekend to get out and enjoy the gorgeous weather!
INCREASING CLOUDINESS SUNDAY; RAIN RETURNS SUNDAY NIGHT… Cloud coverage will increase on Sunday during the afternoon and evening hours ahead of a few showers becoming possible as early as the late evening hours of Sunday. Thunderstorms are not expected on Sunday, however, there could be a few showers, mainly in the hours after sunset. Highs on Sunday will be in the low-80s.
RAIN & STORMS LIKELY AT TIMES MONDAY INTO TUESDAY… Showers and perhaps a few thunderstorms will be possible on Monday into Tuesday as a frontal boundary slides into our area and potentially stalls out. There is a chance, under some scenarios, that we could have a few isolated strong storms on Monday, but it seems more likely that Wednesday will be the day with the highest chance of stronger storms next week.
STRONG STORMS POSSIBLE WEDNESDAY… While it is far too early for any specifics, there are some signals in the ongoing model guidance that suggest we could have a few strong to marginally severe thunderstorms around on Wednesday. We are in the climatological peak months when severe storms are most likely to happen, thus it is critical that we keep watching the data and staying ahead of this potential. I will have updates posted this weekend about this in the RedZone Weather app.
