MORE CLOUDS AROUND TODAY; INCREASING RAIN CHANCES INTO THE WEEKEND… Increasing cloudiness today is a sign of our changing weather pattern that will support more in the way of showers and thunderstorms over the next few days. Rain chances remain quite low today, but I cannot completely rule out a pop-up shower or storm or two this afternoon into this evening. High temperatures today will be in the upper-80s in many locales inland with mid-80s more likely near the immediate beach zones of Alabama and northwest Florida. Increasing rain chances are ahead over the next few days as we continue to transition to more of a summertime weather pattern. Pop-up thunderstorms are here to stay for the next several weeks! More details are below.
POP-UP STORMS FRIDAY INTO THE WEEKEND… Showers and thunderstorms will become more numerous across the region in the afternoon and evening hours of Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. These “pulse type” thunderstorms are all too common in the warm season/summer months around our local area. Storms could be loud and proud with quite a bit of lightning and thunder. Not everyone will have rain this weekend, but many locales probably will. I will have radar updates posted in the RedZone Weather app.
TROPICS ARE QUIET… The Gulf of Mexico, Caribbean Sea, and Atlantic Ocean are quiet with no tropical storms expected to form over the next 5 days. Longer range projections in mid-June also indicate quiet conditions, although as I often caution, forecasts beyond 7 days out are questionable, at best. We’ll keep watching the basin for signs of increasing activity in the weeks ahead. As of now, no issues!
