P.M. STORMS TODAY & INTO THE WEEKEND; HIGHER RAIN CHANCES NEXT WEEK… A few isolated thunderstorms will be possible on this Friday, particularly in the afternoon and evening hours. I expect the overall coverage of rain and thunderstorms to generally be smaller compared to what is ahead next week. Numerous showers and thunderstorms are likely each day starting on Monday and extending into the middle part of the upcoming week. Before we get there, a few thunderstorms will be possible at times this weekend. A few more Friday morning forecast details are below.
TROPICS REMAIN QUIET… The Gulf of Mexico and Caribbean Sea are quiet with no new tropical storms expected to develop over the next 5-7 days. The National Hurricane Center continues to monitor an area of disturbed weather just north of Bermuda in the Atlantic Ocean. This system remains weak and probably will not develop into a named tropical storm as the system moves northeast this weekend. Regardless of if the system develops into a named tropical storm, direct U.S. impacts are not expected. From NHC: “Shower activity has become a little more concentrated over the past couple of hours in association with a non-tropical area of low pressure, located several hundred miles south-southwest of Cape Race, Newfoundland. However, environmental conditions are only marginally conducive for tropical or subtropical development while the low accelerates northeastward through tonight. By Friday, the low is expected to open up into a trough of low pressure to the south of Atlantic Canada.”
