MORE RAIN & STORMS TODAY BUT DRIER, HOTTER DAYS ARE AHEAD… The end of the extended streak of rainy, slightly “cooler” summer days is finally in sight. We have more sunshine in the forecast starting this weekend and extending into early next week as a pattern change begins to lower the overall rain chances across our area. Today, however, will be wet at times with scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms expected across the region. A few more Wednesday morning forecast details are below.
STORMS LIKELY AT TIMES TODAY, THURSDAY, AND ON FRIDAY… Scattered thunderstorms will continue to be likely at times through Friday. High temperatures on this Wednesday will be in the mid-80s, but temperatures will gradually increase over the next few days. The greatest chance of rain today will happen in the afternoon and evening hours, although we note several areas of rain and storms have started a bit early this morning. Widespread severe weather is not expected today, but some of the stronger storms may produce cloud-to-ground lightning, loud thunder, and very heavy downpours of rain.
HOTTER TEMPS COMING THIS WEEKEND… Our overall weather pattern begins to change this weekend into early next week as we trend toward more seasonal, hotter, summer temperatures. High temperatures by the middle of next week are likely to be in the low- to mid-90s with heat index values expected to be well in excess of 100 degrees. In addition, thunderstorms each day will likely be more widely spaced and less numerous.
TROPICS REMAIN QUIET… The Gulf of Mexico, Caribbean Sea, and the northern Atlantic Ocean remain quiet. No new tropical storms are likely to develop over the next 5-7 days, per the latest Tropical Weather Outlook issued by the National Hurricane Center.
