HEAT INDEX AS HIGH AS 112° TODAY; P.M. STORMS LIKELY… Another oppressively hot, humid day is on tap for south Alabama and northwest Florida. High temperatures will be in the mid-90s this afternoon while heat index values will be in the 105-112 degree range. Thunderstorms are expected to rapidly develop this afternoon into this evening. This hot, humid pattern with P.M. storms is expected to continue over the next several days and into next week. The good news is, despite our hot weather pattern, the tropics are quiet with no new tropical storms expected to form through the weekend. I’ve got all of your Wednesday morning forecast details below.
P.M. SHOWERS & STORMS LIKELY IN DAYS AHEAD… Seemingly randomly placed showers and thunderstorms will develop today (mainly this afternoon into this evening) and over the next few days as our seasonal summer pattern continues. Not every locale will have rain before the end of the day each day, but most will have rain at times today and on Thursday. We trend slightly drier as we go into the weekend.
TROPICS QUIET… The Gulf of Mexico, Caribbean Sea, and Atlantic Ocean are not expected to support tropical storm formation over the next 5 days, per the latest Tropical Weather Outlook issued by the National Hurricane Center.
