COLD FRONT ARRIVES WEDNESDAY; COOLER & DRIER THURSDAY AND FRIDAY… The cold front we have been advertising heavily over the last few days is set to arrive tomorrow (Wednesday). This front will clear the skies and allow for much cooler, drier days with lower humidity values. While we may have a few showers and storms overnight into Thursday morning, severe storms are not expected and an extended streak of drier weather is here to stay starting tomorrow afternoon. This weekend will be fantastic, starting with cooler temperatures (60s and low-70s) for high school football on Friday.
UPDATE ON THE TROPICS… The Gulf of Mexico and Caribbean Sea are quiet, thus we have no imminent tropical concerns in south Alabama or northwest Florida. Tropical Depression Peter is located a few hundred miles north of Puerto Rico in the southwestern Atlantic Ocean. Peter is expected to dissipate soon and will never be a direct threat for the continental U.S. Tropical Storm Rose is barely holding on to tropical storm status over the eastern Atlantic Ocean and will also dissipate soon. The system we will need to watch in the days ahead is Invest 98L, a tropical wave that has a 90% chance of becoming a tropical storm over the central Atlantic Ocean. It is too early to know whether this storm will ever be a direct threat for the USA. Next tropical name on the list: Sam.
