BECOMING SUNNY TODAY; RAIN CHANCES RISE THIS WEEKEND… Skies are set to become mostly sunny on this Friday. High temperatures will be in the upper-80s today. We’re looking ahead to the latter half of the weekend and early next week when rain chances are set to rise. Monday could be particularly wet with scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms being likely. Fortunately, I do not see any signs of any organized severe weather in sight. In addition to our local weather pattern becoming more active, we’re also watching Hurricane Sam and Tropical Storm Victor in the open waters of the Atlantic Ocean. A few more Friday morning forecast notes are below.
SHOWERS POSSIBLE SATURDAY; RAIN LIKELY SUNDAY… A few showers will be possible on Saturday, mainly in the afternoon and evening hours. Most spots on Saturday should be dry, but there is a low-end (20%) chance of rain due to increasing precipitable water (or moisture) values across our region. High temperatures on Saturday will be in the upper-80s. Rain and storms will become more likely on Sunday, with most of the storms happening in the middle of the afternoon. High temperatures on Sunday will be in the mid-80s.
HIGH RAIN CHANCES EARLY NEXT WEEK… Rain chances are set to rise as a warm, southerly flow off the Gulf of Mexico happens across our region next week. Rain chances look particularly elevated on Monday and Tuesday.
VICTOR STRENGTHENING IN THE ATLANTIC… Tropical Storm Victor continues to not be a direct threat to land. The storm will remain over the open waters of the Atlantic Ocean over the next several days. The storm is strengthening this morning. Victor will likely be a hurricane at times this weekend before weakening next week. The storm is located about 600 miles southwest of the Cabo Verde Islands.
HURRICANE SAM TO PASS JUST EAST OF BERMUDA… Hurricane Sam has fluctuated in strength due to multiple eyewall replacement cycles over the last few days. Sam is expected to pass to the east of Bermuda tonight into Saturday. A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for Bermuda due to the expected outer rain bands of the storm. The center of Sam will remain a few hundred miles east of the island, thankfully. Sam will then turn northeast on Sunday and move out to sea.
