SUNNY & COOL TODAY; FEW SHOWERS POSSIBLE THURSDAY P.M. INTO FRIDAY… Sunshine is expected today across south Alabama and northwest Florida. Temperatures are starting in the upper-30s in many spots locally, but will rebound into the low- to mid-60s this afternoon. The coldest night of the week will happen tonight into Wednesday morning. Overnight lows by 6AM Wednesday will be in the low- to mid-30s. Some spots north of US84 may briefly dip below the freezing mark. Our local area could have another round of rain on Thursday (Thanksgiving Day) night into Black Friday morning. The weekend, however, will likely be dry. A few more Tuesday morning forecast notes are below.
CLOUDS INCREASE IN COVERAGE ON WEDNESDAY… High temperatures will be a bit warmer tomorrow compared to today. Most communities will end up in the mid-60s by 2PM Wednesday. Mostly sunny skies are expected in the morning hours ahead of increasing cloudiness in the afternoon and evening hours. Temperatures by 6PM will be near 50, if not in the upper-40s for many communities farther inland.
THANKSGIVING FORECAST: PARTLY CLOUDY, SHOWERS LATE… I expect the daytime hours of Thanksgiving Day to be dry for nearly all of our local communities. A few showers over west Alabama cannot completely be ruled out just before sunset, but I expect the coverage of showers to be maximized late Thursday night into early Friday morning. Highs on Thanksgiving Day will be at their warmest this week with most locales reaching the 70 degree mark.
COOL, NICE WEEKEND AHEAD… Mostly sunny skies are expected Saturday and Sunday with high temperatures in the mid-60s. Overnight lows will be near 40 degrees. Keep in mind that temperatures locally will be a bit warmer than the Iron Bowl in Auburn (event forecast below).
IRON BOWL FORECAST… Sunny skies are expected on Saturday in Auburn, AL at Jordan-Hare Stadium as the Alabama Crimson Tide comes to town take on the Auburn Tigers in the Iron Bowl. Despite full sunshine expected, temperatures will be quite chilly. Game time temperatures will be in the upper-50s and near 60 at kickoff. Upper-40s are likely by the end of the game. Keep those jackets and gloves handy!
TROPICS REMAIN QUIET… The Gulf of Mexico, Caribbean Sea, and the Atlantic Ocean remain quiet with no tropical storms or hurricanes expected to develop through the weekend. The 2021 Atlantic Hurricane Season ends one week from today on Tuesday, November 30.
