MAINLY SUNNY TODAY; FEW SHOWERS THANKSGIVING NIGHT… Today will be a nice weather day across south Alabama and northwest Florida with high temperatures in the mid-60s. A few passing clouds are expected in the midst of plenty of sunshine throughout the day. Temperatures will quickly fall into the 40s tonight ahead of slightly warmer temperatures expected for Thanksgiving Day tomorrow. A few showers may happen Thursday night into Friday morning, but overall rain chances remain low for across the area and a widespread, significant rain event remains unlikely. The upcoming weekend looks quite nice with a good bit of sunshine with seasonal temperatures expected. I’ve got all of your Wednesday morning forecast notes below.
INCREASING CLOUDINESS ON THANKSGIVING DAY… Ahead of a few showers becoming possible late Thursday evening (likely after 7PM), clouds will increase in coverage across the region. There will be some sunshine, especially in the morning hours, but I expect clouds to increase in coverage throughout the day. High temperatures tomorrow will be in the low-70s across the region, with the exception of a few communities in west Alabama that will likely stick around in the upper-60s.
COOL, PARTLY CLOUDY FRIDAY… Any showers should be gone by sunrise or shortly thereafter on Friday morning. If you’re headed out for Black Friday shopping, temperatures won’t be AS cold as what we have had earlier in the week, but I expect 6AM Friday temperatures to be in the mid-40s. High temperatures on Friday will be around 60.
COOL, DRY WEEKEND… Partly cloudy skies are expected this weekend across south Alabama and northwest Florida. No rain is expected on Saturday or on Sunday in our local area. High temperatures will be in the mid-60s with morning lows around the 40 degree mark. Some communities may briefly dip into the 30s on Saturday morning and on Sunday morning. Keep in mind that temperatures just to our north across central Alabama, specifically in Auburn for the Iron Bowl, will be a bit cooler than the temperatures we are projecting locally. More about the Iron Bowl forecast is below.
IRON BOWL TO BE COLD & DRY… No changes to report for the upcoming Iron Bowl forecast. High temperatures in Auburn on Saturday will be around the 60 degree mark with full sunshine expected throughout the day. That means that kickoff temperatures at 2:30PM CST will be around 60 degrees with temperatures likely to be in the mid- to upper-40s by the end of the game.
TROPICS ARE QUIET… No tropical storms or hurricanes are expected to form in the Gulf of Mexico, Caribbean Sea, or the Atlantic Ocean over the next 5-7 days. The 2021 Atlantic Hurricane Season will officially come to an end on Tuesday, November 30.
