High temperatures will only be in the mid-50s, so keep the jackets handy throughout the day. Cold temperatures are ahead for the overnight hours. Some locales, especially communities north of U.S. Highway 84 in southwest Alabama, may briefly hit the freezing mark by 6AM on Saturday. Clouds will increase in coverage late in the day on Saturday ahead of rain and thunderstorms becoming possible on Sunday. A few strong to marginally severe thunderstorms may develop just to our west on Sunday, although parameters currently appear rather unfavorable for any severe weather issues in our local area. Cooler air arrives Sunday night after the passage of a cold front. Highs on Monday will drop back into the 50s with lows in the 30s early next week. A few more Friday morning forecast notes are below.
COOL DAY; COLD NIGHT AHEAD… High temperatures today will struggle to get to 55 degrees in many communities despite plenty of sunshine this afternoon. Temperatures will dip to the 30-35° range by daybreak on Saturday morning. By Saturday afternoon, temperatures will rebound into the 60s. Saturday night into Sunday morning won’t be nearly as chilly with most spots having an overnight low in the upper-40s and low-50s.
QUICK WARMUP BY SUNDAY; STORMS LIKELY IN EVENING HOURS… Gulf moisture will stream in from the south throughout the day on Sunday with wind gusts as high as 20 mph. This prolific moisture will support scattered showers and thunderstorms throughout the day on Sunday. Rain and storms should clear out to the east by early Monday morning.
COOL, STABLE WEATHER DAYS EARLY NEXT WEEK… Sunny, nice days kick off again on Monday. High temperatures will be in the 50s Monday, Tuesday, and on Wednesday. Overnight lows will be in the 30s.
