SUNNY TODAY; HEAVY RAIN & STORMS AHEAD ON THURSDAY… Sunshine is expected across the region on this Tuesday with high temperatures likely to be in the upper-60s. A few locales may briefly hit the 70 degree mark this afternoon. A few showers may be possible tomorrow ahead of a heavier round of rain late in the day on Thursday. Severe storms may become possible on Thursday evening, particularly across inland stretches of south Alabama. Tornadoes, gusty winds, hail, and flash flooding will all be concerns. It appears the greatest chance of severe storms will set up in the afternoon and evening hours. Keep in mind that our local area continues to be involved in the Level 1 and Level 2 (out of 5) risk zones, meaning the chance of any specific community experiencing severe weather is not abnormally high. Scattered severe storms will be the possibility Thursday evening. After the rain and storms Thursday, much colder air arrives early Friday morning, paving the way for a nice weekend. A few more Tuesday morning forecast notes are below.

INCREASING CLOUDINESS WEDNESDAY; FEW SHOWERS LATE… Clouds will increase in coverage on Wednesday with a few showers becoming possible after sunset. Highs tomorrow will be in the low-70s. Rain will probably hold off until the late evening hours in many spots and even then, showers will be fairly scattered in nature. The heavier rain event is slated to happen on Thursday.

RAIN & STORMS LIKELY THURSDAY, MAINLY IN P.M. HOURS… Rain chances will gradually increase throughout the day on Thursday. Severe storms may happen in the afternoon and evening hours (more on the specifics of the severe weather potential are below). Rain totals will generally be in the 1-2″ range in many spots across the region. Rain could be heavy at times and flash flooding will be a concern across the local area.

SEVERE WEATHER CONCERNS ON THURSDAY… Tornadoes, damaging winds, large hail, and flash flooding will be possible on Thursday, mainly in the afternoon and evening hours ahead of a potent cold front pushing in from the northwest. Much of our local area in south Alabama and northwest Florida remains involved in a Level 2 (out of 5) severe weather risk valid for Thursday into Thursday night. It appears the local

TORNADO RISK LIKELY TO BE GREATEST INLAND… The greater risk of tornadoes and damaging winds on Thursday in the afternoon and evening hours will likely set up in areas just to our north across parts of central Mississippi and west-central Alabama. While the risk may be maximized in these areas, please be aware that a few tornadoes and the potential for damaging winds WILL exist locally (albeit perhaps to a lesser risk extent) as well.

NICE, SEASONAL WEEKEND AHEAD… Mostly sunny skies are ahead for the upcoming weekend. No rain is expected Saturday or Sunday. High temperatures will be in the low- to mid-60s with morning lows in the mid- to upper-30s.
