SCATTERED THUNDERSTORMS TODAY, TOMORROW, & THURSDAY; DRIER WEEKEND… Thunderstorms will again be possible on this Tuesday across south Alabama and northwest Florida. While the Storm Prediction Center has included all of our local area in their low-end, Level 1 (out of 5) severe weather risk valid for today, the risk is driven by the potential for gusty winds and small hail. There is no significant tornado risk today across the local area. Scattered storms will be possible again on Wednesday ahead of very high rain chances on Thursday as a cold front approaches from the northwest. Thursday will feature numerous thunderstorms and may end up being the wettest day of the entire week. Fortunately, the weekend looks drier. A few more Tuesday morning forecast notes are below.
STORMS AROUND TODAY… Pop-up thunderstorms will be possible throughout the day on this Tuesday. The main hazard concerns will be cloud-to-ground lightning and heavy rain. Small hail and gusty winds will be possible in the strongest of the storms that develop today. The greatest chance of rain and storms will happen from 10AM to 5PM. I will have radar updates posted throughout the day in the RedZone Weather app.
TROPICS QUIET… The Gulf of Mexico, Caribbean Sea, and Atlantic Ocean are quiet with no tropical storms expected to form over the next 5-7 days, despite what the fear mongers and single image model run posters have said for weeks on social media. If you missed my annual post about this, make sure to take 2 minutes to read it here.
