MOSTLY SUNNY TODAY; HOT TEMPS THIS WEEK INTO THE WEEKEND… Mostly sunny skies are expected today and over the next few days with rain chances remaining, unfortunately, quite low. While one or two rogue showers cannot be completely ruled out today, nearly all of us across the region will remain dry. High temperatures will be in the low-90s today. Temperatures will rise into the mid-90s tomorrow with upper-90s expected on Thursday and Friday.

TROPICS: TROPICAL WAVES IN EASTERN ATLANTIC… Two tropical waves in the Atlantic Ocean have high chances of becoming named tropical storms over the next several days. One tropical wave, located in the central Atlantic Ocean, nearing the halfway point between the Lesser Antilles and west Africa, is expected to develop into a named storm over the next few days. Interests in the northern Lesser Antilles and Puerto Rico should closely monitor this system as impacts may be possible in about 5 days. While early model guidance points to the system turning northward (and eventually impacting Bermuda, potentially), it is far too early to know for sure if that scenario will pan out. I will have updates on this developing system posted in the RedZone Weather app today and tomorrow. Another, separate tropical wave near the western coast of Africa will move northwest through the Cabo Verde Islands over the next few days.

TROPICS: GULF AND CARIBBEAN QUIET… The Gulf of Mexico and Caribbean Sea remain quiet for now. No tropical storms are expected to develop over the next 5-7 days in the Gulf or the Caribbean Sea. The peak of the Atlantic hurricane season happens on September 11, thus any areas of concern that develop must be diligently monitored in the weeks ahead.

TROPICS: FINAL ADVISORIES ISSUED FOR GERT & KATIA… The National Hurricane Center issued a final advisory on both Tropical Depression Gert and Tropical Depression Katia yesterday. The two systems have dissipated in the Atlantic Ocean.
