WARM WEEKEND; COLD AIR COMING NEXT WEEK… Picture perfect weather is ahead for today, tomorrow, and Sunday with plenty of sunshine each day. High temperatures will be in the mid-80s through the weekend. Overnight lows are slated to be in the upper-50s and near 60. We’re looking ahead to a significant pattern change set to occur early next week. High temperatures will drop into the 60s by Wednesday with morning lows in the 30s and 40s.
PATTERN CHANGE NEXT WEEK; DRY COLD FRONT TO MOVE BY… There will be a sharp thermal gradient in place across Alabama on Monday with some spots in the northwestern corner of the state (Florence, Muscle Shoals, Decatur, Russellville) stuck in the 40s all day. Meanwhile, where we are in south Alabama and northwest Florida, high temperatures will be in the 80s on Monday. Cold air will dive south on Monday night. Highs on Tuesday locally will be in the 70s with 60s likely for afternoon highs on Wednesday. Overnight lows will be in the 40s by Tuesday morning in many communities across the region.
TROPICS: 20% CHANCE OF TROPICAL STORM FORMING NEXT WEEK IN CARIBBEAN… An area of disturbed weather is forecast to develop over the central Caribbean Sea. This system has a 20% chance of becoming a named tropical storm next week. From NHC: “A broad area of low pressure is forecast to develop over the southwestern Caribbean Sea during the next few days. Environmental conditions could support some slow development of this system early next week while it moves generally northward over western or central portions of the Caribbean Sea.”
TROPICS: FORMER TAMMY IN ATLANTIC… The extratropical storm in the northwestern Atlantic Ocean that once was Hurricane Tammy continues to slowly drift westward. The storm will bring gusty winds and rain to Bermuda over the weekend. The National Hurricane Center indicates this system has a 50% chance of redeveloping into a tropical storm as it gradually moves west or southwest over the next few days. Regardless of if formal development happens, the system does not pose a risk of hazards for Alabama or northwest Florida.
