WARM TODAY; SHARPLY COLDER TOMORROW INTO WEDNESDAY… Today will be the last warm day for awhile as much cooler, drier air is slated to move into our local area tonight into Tuesday. A strong cold front will bring in a significant thermal gradient across Alabama today. Some spots in the northwestern corner of the state near Florence and Muscle Shoals may not make it out of the 40s today. South Alabama and northwest Florida will have a high temperature in the 80s today, however. Skies will gradually become more cloudy throughout the day. Unfortunately, we do not have any rain in the forecast over the next 24 hours.
COLD FRONT CROSSES AREA THIS EVENING INTO TONIGHT; NO RAIN… Colder air will push into our region starting tonight after the passage of a cold front. There is a real chance high temperatures on Tuesday will struggle to get out of the 50s across inland areas of southwest Alabama. Overnight lows by Wednesday morning will be in the low- to mid-30s.
TRICK-OR-TREAT FORECAST… If you’re headed out to take the kids trick-or-treating for Halloween on Tuesday, be sure to grab the jackets! Temperatures will be in the low- to mid-50s by 7PM tomorrow evening. Some spots farther inland may be in the 40s. No rain is expected tomorrow or tomorrow night.
TROPICS: DISTURBANCE MAY DEVELOP IN CENTRAL CARIBBEAN… An area of low pressure may form in the central or western Caribbean Sea over the next 5-7 days. Early model indications point to this system moving nearly due west toward the coastline of Nicaragua or Honduras. The National Hurricane Center indicates there is a 20% chance of a named tropical storm forming in the next 5-7 days.
TROPICS: BRIEF TROPICAL STORM MAY DEVELOP NORTH OF HISPANIOLA… There is a short window for a brief tropical depression or tropical storm to form today in the southwestern Atlantic Ocean. The National Hurricane Center indicates this system will likely drift northeast, away from land areas, today into tomorrow. Regardless of if formal development happens, this system will likely never directly affect Alabama or northwest Florida.
TROPICS: GULF REMAINS QUIET… The Gulf of Mexico remains quiet with no new tropical storms expected to form over the next 5-7 days. The 2023 Atlantic Hurricane Season will officially end on November 30.
