STRONGER STORMS OFFSHORE… Occasional thunder is happening across parts of Baldwin, Escambia (FL), Santa Rosa, and Escambia (AL) counties this morning as a mass of rain and storms moves east.
The stronger thunderstorms, however, remain well offshore in the northern Gulf of Mexico. This is because all of the surface-based instability remains to the south of the beaches and not over land areas. We may see some destabilization of the atmosphere, especially near the immediate coast, over the next few hours but the overall severe weather risk remains quite low. For inland areas, the risk is extremely low.
