STORMS SLOWLY APPROACHING FROM MISSISSIPPI… Just after 2AM, a band of thunderstorms extends from Butler, Alabama to Hammond, Louisiana, stretching across southeast Mississippi. A Severe Thunderstorm Warning is currently in effect for the northern half of Choctaw County due to the potential for 60 mph wind gusts as storms continue to move in from the west.

This band of thunderstorms will continue to slowly move eastward in the coming hours, ultimately moving into southwest Alabama by 4:30AM most likely.

NEW TORNADO WATCH TILL 9AM… The entire local area is involved in a Tornado Watch valid until 9AM. A Tornado Watch means conditions are favorable for the development of tornadoes and warnings may be needed. Be sure you can hear warnings over the next several hours!

While this is not a night to stay up and worry, it IS a night when you need something that can wake you up, just in case your location goes under a tornado warning. Most communities across the region will simply have rain and thunder at times over the next several hours. I will be monitoring radar trends carefully over the next few hours.
