LOW-END RISK OF STRONG STORMS THRU EARLY AFTERNOON; COOLER TEMPS TONIGHT… Despite the round of severe thunderstorms that our area has had over the last few hours, the risk of damaging wind gusts, a tornado or two, and large hail is not over yet. We have one more round of thunderstorms set to develop over the next several hours across south Alabama and northwest Florida. This round may not be as intense as the previous round of storms, but please continue to have a way to hear warnings until I can give a complete all clear later today. Thank you to everyone who watched our tornado warning coverage in the 4AM hour. It is never easy to deal with overnight and early morning tornadoes but thanks to everyone who got sheltered! No reports of injuries or fatalites despite numerous trees down across the region.
COOLER TEMPS THIS WEEKEND… Overnight lows will be in the upper-50s by 6AM Saturday. High temperatures tomorrow will be in the upper-70s farther inland and near 80 closer to the Alabama and northwest Florida beaches. This weekend will certainly feature nicer weather than what we have had over the last 24-48 hours AND a lot nicer than next week when severe storms will again be in the forecast.
ACTIVE WEATHER NEXT WEEK… Scattered thunderstorms will again become possible on Monday and Tuesday. There is a chance we may have severe weather issues early next week. Details will be ironed out this weekend as more data arrives. I will have full updates in the RedZone Weather app this weekend after we get through the ongoing severe weather today (Friday).
