FEW SHOWERS TODAY; RAIN & STORMS LIKELY AT TIMES THIS WEEKEND… Widely scattered showers and perhaps a thunderstorm or two will be possible this afternoon into this evening across south Alabama and northwest Florida. Most communities across the region will be dry today. High temperatures will be quite similar to the last few days with most locales reaching the upper-80s and low-90s. Scattered showers and thunderstorms are likely to develop at times on Saturday and on Sunday. Widespread severe weather is NOT expected this weekend, but I am expecting some of the storms to be loud at times. Cloud-to-ground lightning and loud thunder will be possible in the strongest of the storms.

HAVE INDOOR BACKUP PLANS READY THIS WEEKEND… If you have outdoor plans this weekend, I would strongly encourage you to have an indoor backup plan ready to go – not because we are expecting “all day washout conditions on Saturday or Sunday,” but because it is is impossible to predict this far out with any level of accuracy or precision where showers and storms may form. High temperatures this weekend will be in the mid- to upper-80s.

SCATTERED STORMS EARLY NEXT WEEK… Scattered thunderstorms will continue to be possible on Monday and perhaps into Tuesday as well. Most of the showers and thunderstorms next week, like this weekend, will occur in the afternoon and evening hours.

TROPICAL UPDATE; HURRICANE SEASON STARTS TOMORROW… Tropical storm formation is not expected in the Gulf of Mexico, Caribbean Sea, or the Atlantic Ocean over the next 5-7 days. The 2024 Atlantic Hurricane Season begins TOMORROW on Saturday, June 1.
