NUMEROUS THUNDERSTORMS AT TIMES TODAY; SCATTERED STORMS INTO THE WEEKEND… Rain chances will be at their peak for the week today with most communities having rain and thunderstorms around before the end of the day. Widespread severe storms remain unlikely but some of the thunderstorms will be loud and proud at times. Cloud-to-ground lightning, loud claps of thunder, heavy rain, and gusty winds will be possible in the strongest of the storms. High temperatures will be in the upper-80s and near the 90 degree mark.
SPOTTY STORMS AT TIMES THURSDAY, FRIDAY, & INTO WEEKEND… Scattered thunderstorms will continue to be possible, mostly (although not exclusively) in the afternoon and evening hours, on Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. It won’t rain all day in any given community across the region but scattered thunderstorms are expected. High temperatures will be in the upper-80s and near 90 over the next few days with morning lows in the 70s.
NO TROPICAL TROUBLE THIS WEEK OR THIS WEEKEND… The National Hurricane Center continues to indicate that no tropical storm formation is expected over the next 5-7 days in the Gulf of Mexico, Caribbean Sea, or the Atlantic Ocean. I expect an uptick in the overall tropical activity as we move into the first two weeks of August. The peak of the 2023 Atlantic Hurricane Season will happen on September 11. Hurricane season will end on November 30.
