ISOLATED STORMS THIS AFTERNOON; HIGHER RAIN CHANCES COMING THIS WEEKEND… Spotty showers and thunderstorms will be possible across south Alabama and northwest Florida this afternoon into this evening. Rain chances remain LOW (20%) today but not entirely zero. That means that a few communities will probably have rain at times but most, today anyway, will not. High temperatures will be in the mid-90s with heat index values near 103-105° in many communities today.

HIGHER RAIN CHANCES & HOTTER TEMPS LATER THIS WEEK… The humidity is going to approach oppressive levels as we get into Thursday and Friday. High temperatures will be in the upper-90s with heat index values closer to 110° region wide. The good news is rain chances will also be higher later this week and into the upcoming weekend when scattered showers and thunderstorms will be more prevalent each afternoon and evening.

TROPICS: 20% CHANCE OF DEVELOPMENT IN CENTRAL ATLANTIC… The National Hurricane Center (NHC) has flagged an area in the central Atlantic Ocean, east of the Lesser Antilles, where a tropical storm may develop in 6-7 days. NHC indicates a tropical wave will be moving into a more favorable environment for tropical storm formation. Development will not happen over the next few days but this is an area we will need to watch as we get into the weekend. The Gulf of Mexico and Caribbean Sea are quiet.
