COLD START; BEAUTIFUL, SUNNY THURSDAY… Some spots were in the 30s farther inland this morning but temperatures will quickly rise into the upper-60s and low-70s this afternoon. Skies will remain sunny throughout the day, not only today, but also on Friday. We’re going to start a gradual warming trend that will feature temperatures in the upper-70s by the weekend. Overnight lows will again be well into the low-40s by daybreak tomorrow morning. Rain chances are slated to remain very low in the days ahead. If you have an outdoor work project that requires dry, nice days, NOW is the time to start as we have a slew of dry, warm days coming up.
TROPICS: DISTURBANCE APPROACHING NORTHERN LEEWARD ISLANDS… A tropical wave, now branded as INVEST 94L, is located a few hundred miles to the west of the northernmost Lesser Antilles. This system has a 30-40% chance of becoming a named tropical storm as the system moves near or just to the north of Puerto Rico and Hispaniola through the weekend. It appears a blocking ridge of high pressure will prevent the system from moving into the Gulf of Mexico, although that idea is not set entirely in stone just yet. Odds are the system will either turn north or northeast OR be pushed to the southwest toward Cuba. Regardless, local impacts in Alabama and northwest Florida seem rather unlikely due to this system.
TROPICS: DISTURBANCE IN WESTERN CARIBBEAN SEA… Convection associated with a tropical disturbance in the western Caribbean Sea near the coast of Nicaragua remains disorganized. This system is gradually moving northwest. The National Hurricane Center indicates there is a 20% chance of a tropical storm developing before the system moves inland into Central America.
