SONIC BOOM MAY HAPPEN OVERNIGHT DUE TO SPACEX RE-ENTRY… The SpaceX Crew-8 is slated to return to Earth overnight with splashdown in the northern Gulf of Mexico south of Pensacola around 2:23AM CDT. You may be able to step outside and see a long-lasting fireball entering the atmosphere high in the sky and streaking toward Earth, particularly if you are near the Alabama and northwest Florida beaches. A brief sonic boom may also be possible across parts of the region. If you are awake, look toward the southern horizon/Gulf of Mexico starting around 2:18AM overnight. The splash down is tentatively scheduled to happen around 2:23AM CDT.
Clear skies with temperatures in the upper-50s and near 60° are expected overnight in many spots.
LOCAL WEATHER & TROPICAL WEATHER UPDATE… Sunny skies are expected on Friday with high temperatures in the upper-80s. Unfortunately, we do not have any rain in the 7 Day Forecast despite ongoing, worsening drought conditions. I have had several questions today about the tropics and the potential for a November Gulf hurricane. Let me vehemently emphasize there is NO credible data or model guidance to support a tropical storm or hurricane strike in Alabama or northwest Florida. Some model guidance has sporadically suggested there could be a tropical storm or hurricane in early November in the Caribbean or perhaps even near Florida or the East Coast, but guidance is all over the board. There is no discernible trend, thus no imminent concerns. If this changes, I’ll let you know in the RedZone Weather app.
