ISOLATED SHOWERS THIS MORNING; FEW STORMS ON THANKSGIVING DAY; COLD WEEKEND… Spotty showers will continue to be possible over the next several hours as a frontal boundary pushes southeast across south Alabama and northwest Florida. Temperatures will peak in the low-70s in most spots today. Wednesday is slated to be the last full warm/mild day for quite awhile. Rain will be possible at times on Thanksgiving Day ahead of much colder air surging into our region on Thanksgiving Night into early Friday.
A FEW SHOWERS & STORMS POSSIBLE ON THANKSGIVING DAY… Isolated showers and perhaps a few thunderstorms will be possible across the region on Thanksgiving Day Thursday, particularly in the evening hours. The greater coverage of rain and thunderstorms will likely happen across central and north Alabama where overall rain amounts will generally be higher compared to our local area. Storms will be more widely spaced in nature on Thursday evening locally and there is a chance some communities remain completely dry. High temperatures on Thursday will be in the mid-70s. Widespread severe weather continues to appear unlikely. Good news!
MUCH COLDER AIR ARRIVES THURSDAY NIGHT INTO FRIDAY… If you’re headed out to Black Friday shopping on Friday morning, grab the jackets and keep them close by. Temperatures will be in the 40s Friday morning with highs only set to be in the 50s on Friday. Full sunshine is expected throughout the day on Black Friday.
COLD WEEKEND WITH HIGHS ONLY IN 50s… Overnight lows will be near the freezing mark each morning into early next week, particularly in communities near and north of the U.S. Highway 84 corridor. Cold mornings and cold days are coming up! There is a real chance Monday will have some communities with HIGHS only in the upper-40s.
TROPICS QUIET… I am expecting a quiet week, in terms of tropical activity, in the Gulf of Mexico, Caribbean Sea, and the Atlantic Ocean. No new tropical storms are expected to form over the next few days. The 2024 Atlantic Hurricane Season will officially end this Saturday, November 30.
