COOL DAYS, COLD NIGHTS CONTINUE; LOWS BELOW FREEZING TONIGHT & TOMORROW NIGHT… Cool temperatures are here to stay this week. High temperatures on this Monday will be in the upper 50s inland and low 60s closer to the Alabama and northwest Florida beaches. Full sunshine is expected throughout the day. Highs will only be in the low to mid 50s tomorrow with overnight lows early Wednesday morning in the “hard freeze” category. Some spots further inland will have lows in the 25-28° range on Wednesday morning.
NEXT CHANCE OF RAIN HAPPENS THURSDAY… An approaching cold front will cause rain chances to rise across the region on Wednesday night into Thursday. For now, the overall risk of any severe storms seems rather low. Scattered showers and perhaps a few thunderstorms will be possible on Thursday, mainly during the daytime hours.
HURRICANE SEASON HAS ENDED… The 2024 Atlantic Hurricane Season officially ended over the weekend on Saturday, November 30. The season featured 18 named storms, 11 hurricanes, and 5 major hurricanes. No systems caused direct, significant local impacts in Alabama or northwest Florida, thankfully. The names of three storms will likely be retired from the rotating naming lists due to extensive destruction and fatalities caused this year: Beryl, Helene, and Milton. This will serve as the final regular tropical update for 2024. The 2025 Atlantic Hurricane Season will begin on Sunday, June 1.
