MAINLY SUNNY CHRISTMAS EVE; SHOWERS POSSIBLE TOMORROW NIGHT… Mostly sunny and warmer conditions are in the forecast on this Christmas Eve across south Alabama and northwest Florida. High temperatures will be in the mid 60s. Clouds will likely begin to increase in coverage this evening into tonight but I am not expecting rain overnight. Showers will become possible on Christmas Day, specifically in the evening and more likely in the hours after sunset. Rain chances will rise again this weekend when a round of showers and thunderstorms will be possible across the region on Saturday into Sunday.

SANTA TO HAVE COOL, DRY CONDITIONS LOCALLY… Conditions will be quite seasonal for Santa Claus across the local area tonight. Our climatologically normal low temperature for Christmas Eve is in the 40-45° range and that is exactly what I am expecting overnight. Other than a few passing clouds, Santa will have nice, dry conditions.

FEW SHOWERS ON CHRISTMAS DAY EVENING… We start the day on Christmas Day with partly cloudy skies. Temperatures will be in the 40s and 50s before 9AM. Clouds will increase in coverage throughout the day. High temperatures will be in the mid to upper 60s. Isolated showers will become possible over West Alabama in the early evening hours with a chance of a few showers spreading eastward throughout the evening. Widespread, heavy rain and significant severe weather issues are NOT expected across south Alabama and northwest Florida on Christmas Day, but a few showers may become possible.

WARMER TEMPS & UNSETTLED PATTERN INTO THE WEEKEND… Our local area will remain in somewhat of a wet, unsettled pattern on Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and the first half of Sunday. Rain and thunderstorms look increasingly likely on Saturday. The greatest rain chances will likely happen in the evening hours. High temperatures will be in the upper 60s and low 70s later this week and into the weekend. I will be monitoring the Saturday setup to ensure severe weather issues remain highly unlikely. That is the expectation, for now.
