COOL, SUNNY FRIDAY & SATURDAY; FREEZE LIKELY OVERNIGHT… Get set for another sunny, cool day across the region with temperatures dipping below the freezing mark by 6AM Saturday morning. High temperatures on this Friday will be around 53 in most spots. We’re also looking ahead to next week when we’ll have our next chance of rain. Let’s talk details…

COLD NIGHT AHEAD… Winter will be in full swing over the next 2-3 days, including tonight when temperatures will reach their lowest point this week. The interior of south Alabama will drop into the upper-20s by 6AM Saturday. Coastal areas will be in the 30-34 degree range. Clear skies are expected.

SUNNY, NICE, COLD WEEKEND… Plenty of sunshine is expected both on Saturday and Sunday. High temperatures Saturday will peak around 59 with Sunday’s high being closer to 65. We did have a low rain chance in the forecast for Sunday earlier this week, but we have taken that completely out at this point as the atmosphere is expected to be much drier than initially thought.

RAIN RETURNS TUESDAY AHEAD OF COLDER AIR… While Monday will likely be mostly sunny with temperatures near 70 in the afternoon hours, clouds will increase Monday evening ahead of our next rain chance on Tuesday. These rain showers will happen in response to a strong cold front moving southeast across our region. No snow or mixed precipitation is expected locally, but there is a growing chance that north Alabama may have some accumulating snow with this system. Following the passage of the cold front, the latest model guidance is beginning to suggest we could be dealing with more cold temperatures Wednesday and Thursday of next week. Highs will be around 50 with morning lows potentially in the 20s.
