MUCH COOLER TODAY & TOMORROW; WARMER BY SUNDAY… Lingering rain showers are on the way out this morning ahead of much cooler air moving into our region today. The reason we had showers overnight and the reason colder air is moving in today is because of the passage of a cold front from the northwest. Temperatures will hold steady today before plummeting into the upper-30s later tonight. This will be a brief cold snap, however, as we warm up by Sunday. Let’s talk details…
COLD OVERNIGHT AHEAD… The last few days have been quite warm but we plunge back to closer to our seasonal norms tonight. I expect overnight lows to be in the upper-30s in most spots across south Alabama and northwest Florida. Some spots may be around 35 degrees on the northern side of Monroe, Clarke, and Butler counties. Clouds will continue to clear later today into tonight, giving way to clear skies by daybreak on Saturday.
COLD, SUNNY SATURDAY; WARMER SUNDAY… Plenty of sunshine is ahead for Saturday with high temperatures in the upper-50s. Sunday will be warmer with a high temperature in the mid- to upper-60s. Clouds will increase on Sunday ahead of a slight (20%) rain chance for Sunday night into Monday. Winds will shift from out of the south, again ushering in warm, moist air from the northern Gulf of Mexico.
RAIN LIKELY MONDAY INTO TUESDAY… Another cold front will approach our area late Tueday night. Ahead of the front, rain will become possible on both Monday and Tuesday. There could be a few thunderstorms around on Tuesday, however at this point, severe weather parameters remain very low.
