NICE WEDNESDAY & THURSDAY BEFORE MORE STORMS THIS WEEKEND… Plenty of sunshine is expected today, tomorrow, and even on Friday before another potent storm system brings the risk of a few strong to severe thunderstorms to much of the Deep South, potentially including our local area. High temperatures on this Wednesday will peak in the mid-50s with another cold night ahead. Temperatures rebound on Thursday into the 60s before soaring into the 70s this weekend.

SEVERE WEATHER RISK SATURDAY INTO SUNDAY… The Storm Prediction Center continues to outline much of the Deep South, including Alabama, northwest Florida, Mississippi, western Tennessee, Louisiana, and Arkansas in their Level 2 (out of 5) slight risk zone valid for Saturday into Sunday. The weather system setting up this weekend could potentially produce a large area of severe weather, including tornadoes and damaging straight line winds. It’s too early to be specifics about where potential hazards will set up, but with this large slight risk area in place, it will be important to pay attention to future outlook updates over the next few days.

STORM TIMING FOR LOCAL AREA… The latest guidance points to storms being most likely in south Alabama and northwest Florida from 6PM on Saturday to 6AM on Sunday. We will likely refine that timeframe over the next few days as we get more specifics in focus.

UNSETTLED INTO EARLY NEXT WEEK… Showers will likely linger into Monday and potentially Tuesday of the upcoming week. Temperatures will remain above our climatological norms for early March, peaking in the 70s each day early next week.

NOW IS THE TIME TO PREPARE… We are so blessed these days with ample lead time ahead of severe weather events (unlike what the national media would have us think!). Now is the time to prepare for severe weather season. Have that severe weather safety kit prepped and know where you would go and what you would do if a tornado warning is required for your area.
