FEW SHOWERS POSSIBLE THIS EVENING; MORE RAIN BY END OF WEEK… Mostly cloudy skies with temperatures in the 60s are expected later this morning into the afternoon hours before a few showers become possible this evening. Not everyone will get measurable rainfall tonight, but there will be a few spots (especially closer to the Alabama and northwest Florida beaches) that pick up a quarter of an inch of rain before Tuesday morning. Tuesday and Wednesday will likely be dry before another storm system gets set to move across our region late Thursday into Friday. Let’s talk details…
RAIN POSSIBLE THIS EVENING… Showers, and perhaps a few thunderstorms closer to the coast, will be possible this (Monday) evening. The greatest rain chance will happen between 4PM and 10PM. Showers will be more numerous offshore. These showers are happening because of an area of low pressure sliding eastward across the region. This feature will move by quickly and be out of our area by Tuesday morning. No severe weather issues are expected tonight.
DRIER WEATHER ON TUESDAY AND WEDNESDAY… The middle part of the week should be dry with increasing temperatures. Highs on Tuesday will be around 72° followed by temperatures increasing to near 80° by Wednesday afternoon. Overnight lows rise to around 50° by Thursday at 6AM. Plenty of sunshine is likely each day.
MORE SHOWERS & STORMS ON THURSDAY INTO FRIDAY… Our next “weathermaker” approaches from the west late Thursday into Friday. We note the Storm Prediction Center has included much of Mississippi in their Level 2 (out of 5) slight risk zone valid for Thursday evening. It seems logical that our area will be included in at least the low-end, marginal risk zone valid for Thursday evening. We’ll keep you posted about this over the next few days. Be sure to check back with me for updates. Now is the time to be aware that we could have a few strong storms around late Thursday into Friday. No need for stress as of now, just something to monitor as we get closer to the end of the week.
WET WEEKEND AHEAD… Showers and storms will continue into the upcoming weekend. Temperatures will potentially reach their highest points of 2019 so far, with some spots approaching the mid-80s by Saturday and Sunday.
HIGH LEVEL ALERT TEST ON WEDNESDAY… We will have a High-Level Alert Test this Wednesday, April 3, 2019 at 1PM CDT in the RedZone Weather app. The forecast for Wednesday is dry and nice, so we won’t have to reschedule this because of severe weather. You should receive a push notification at 1PM Wednesday if you have the RedZone Weather app installed on your iOS or Android device AND you have allowed the app to send push notifications. This test will be done on a quarterly basis going forward. After the test on Wednesday, April 3, the next one is scheduled for Wednesday, July 3. redzoneweather.com/app is the link where you can download the free RedZone Weather app.
