HOT, MOSTLY DRY MONDAY; RAIN CHANCES INCREASE LATER THIS WEEK… We’re watching an area of disturbed weather in the Gulf of Mexico that has a chance of becoming a tropical storm over the next 24-48 hours before moving into Mexico south of Texas. The good news is this system will NOT directly affect south Alabama or northwest Florida. Today will be HOT and mostly dry across the local area. I use the word “mostly” since we could have a rogue, pop-up storm near the coast before the end of the day. Vast majority of us will remain dry through sunset and into Tuesday. High temperatures will be in the upper-90s. Rain chances will go up by the end of the week. Let’s talk details…
STORMS WILL BE FEW AND FAR BETWEEN TODAY… Today is reminiscent of the weather pattern we had last week when a big ridge of high pressure was in control, yet a few highly isolated storms still managed to form. Nearly all of us will remain dry today, but I can’t rule out a rogue storm or two, especially closer to the coast. High temperatures will be in the mid- to upper-90s today across south Alabama and northwest Florida. Overnight lows Tuesday morning will be around the 70 degree mark. Tuesday will be very similar to today, with hot temperatures and the very low chance of a pop up storm or two.
RAIN CHANCES BEGIN TO INCREASE WEDNESDAY… We’ll call it a 20% chance of showers and thunderstorms on Wednesday as the seabreeze-induced storms really start becoming a daily fixture of the forecast. High temperatures Wednesday will be in the mid-90s.
RAIN & STORMS LIKELY THIS WEEKEND… Rain chances rise to around 30-40% regionwide by Thursday. Friday could be our wettest day we’ve had in quite some time as an area of low pressure approaches from the west. Details are still scarce at this point but most major weather models have consistently suggested that our area will be in the warm sector out ahead of an area of low pressure. It’s too early to know whether severe weather issues will be a concern. The highest probability scenario points to an increased amount of pop-up storms in the heat of the day. We’ll keep you posted about this over the next few days. Temperatures will be seasonal this week with highs in the 90s and lows around 70°.
STORMS POSSIBLE DURING THE UPCOMING WEEKEND… Saturday into Sunday (one week from today) could be the wettest weekend we’ve had in quite some time. Scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms will be possible. High temperatures will be in the low-90s with morning lows in the 70s.
