SUNNY TODAY & FRIDAY; STORMS RETURN THIS WEEKEND… Hot, dry conditions are expected today (Thursday) and on Friday across south Alabama and northwest Florida before a more active weather pattern returns for the latter half of the weekend. Temperatures are starting in the mid-60s in most spots today and will quickly rise into the low-90s by 2PM. The weekend looks a bit more wet compared to today and tomorrow. Scattered showers and thunderstorms will bubble up in the heat of the day on Saturday and on Sunday. Rain chances will be in the 20-40% range as we head into next week. Let’s look at a few details…
POP-UP STORMS POSSIBLE SATURDAY, MORE LIKELY SUNDAY… Our classic, summertime pop-up thunderstorms will return to our forecast picture on Saturday. Most of the storms Saturday should be isolated and far apart. Storms will be a bit more numerous on Sunday afternoon and evening. The overall severe weather risk with these storms remains low, but cloud-to-ground lightning and very heavy downpours of rain will be concerns. High temperatures over the next 5-6 days will consistently be around the 90 degree mark with morning lows in the 69-71 degree range.
AFTERNOON STORMS LIKELY NEXT WEEK… The upcoming week looks a bit more seasonal, in the sense of more scattered showers and thunderstorms will be possible in the afternoon and evening hours on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. The overall severe weather risk remains low.
TROPICS ARE QUIET… The Gulf of Mexico, Caribbean Sea, and tropical Atlantic Ocean remain quiet with no tropical storm formation expected over the next few days.
