STORMS POSSIBLE THIS AFTERNOON; HEAT & HUMIDITY TO PERSIST… The “splash and dash” variety of summer thunderstorms will be around again on this first day of July. Rain and storms will be most likely to happen between 1PM and 7PM. High temperatures today will peak in the mid-90s across south Alabama and northwest Florida. Our weather pattern will essentially be on repeat Tuesday, Wednesday, and into the latter half of the week and the weekend.
FOURTH OF JULY FORECAST… We’ll call it a 40-50% chance of showers and thunderstorms for Independence Day. Most of the rain/storms will happen in the afternoon and evening hours. High temperatures on Thursday will be in the low- to mid-90s. There is about a 1 in 3 chance that 4th of July fireworks for any given spot across our region may be wet due to a passing shower/thunderstorm. It is impossible to know exactly when or where storms will fire up in advance. We’ll need to monitor radar trends a few hours ahead of the fireworks displays across the region.
TROPICS ARE QUIET… The Gulf of Mexico, Caribbean Sea, and Atlantic Ocean are quiet, meaning tropical storm formation is not expected over the next 5-7 days.
