HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY! ISOLATED STORMS POSSIBLE THIS EVENING… Happy 4th of July from all of us at RedZone Weather! Our classic summer weather pattern continues today with scattered thunderstorms becoming possible this afternoon into this evening. There will be some storms around this evening when municipalities across our region get set for their annual fireworks displays. We’ll call it about a 1 in 3 chance that your locale will be wet in the evening hours (after 6PM). Widespread severe weather is not expected today, but some of the pop-up thunderstorms may be on the strong side. This means gusty winds, deadly cloud-to-ground lightning, and heavy downpours of rain will all be concerns. I know I say this far too much, but if you can hear thunder, you’re close enough to a thunderstorm that lightning could strike at your location. When thunder roars, please go indoors! We’ve got more of the same weather upcoming for the weekend with a slightly higher rain chance. Let’s talk details…
FIREWORKS FORECAST: TONIGHT… Rain chances will progressively lessen after 6PM, although a few of the pop-up thunderstorms may linger until approximately 10 o’clock. Be sure to see the graphic in the morning video for all the details about this.
MORE SHOWERS & STORMS AROUND THIS WEEKEND… Rain and storms will be a bit more numerous this weekend across south Alabama and northwest Florida. The atmosphere will be a bit more conducive for storm development in the afternoon and evening hours on both Saturday and on Sunday. High temperatures will be in the low- to mid-90s.
TROPICS REMAIN QUIET… The Gulf of Mexico, Caribbean Sea, and Atlantic Ocean are all quiet with the National Hurricane Center indicating no tropical storm formation is expected over the next 5-7 days.
