RAIN LIKELY THIS EVENING; SUNNY, COOL WEEKEND AHEAD… Showers will become increasingly likely later this evening across south Alabama and northwest Florida as an area of low pressure skirts our area to the south. Cold temperatures are expected throughout the day with high temperatures barely hitting 50° in most locales. It won’t rain everywhere across the region, but most spots closer to the immediate beach zones of Alabama and northwest Florida will have rain at times. We have a nice, cool weekend on tap with highs in the 60s. The next week looks mostly quiet with quite a bit of sunshine and an overall warming trend. Let’s look at your forecast details.
RAIN CHANCES GREATEST BETWEEN 6PM AND MIDNIGHT… Rain will become widespread later today, primarily across our coastal areas. The closer you are to the coast, the more likely you are to have some intermittent rain at times. High temperatures today will struggle to hit 50° in most spots due to the continued cloud cover. I’m not expecting severe weather as instability values remain at or near zero. Thunderstorms are also not expected due to this lack of instability. Winter weather issues, in terms of snow/sleet/ice, are not expected since temperatures will be above the freezing mark. This will be a cold, miserable rain.
CLOUDS CLEAR OUT ON FRIDAY AS TEMPERATURES EDGE UPWARD… Skies will clear out early on Friday, giving way to sunny skies in the afternoon hours. Temperatures will increase into the mid- to upper-50 by 3PM Friday. Friday night into Saturday will again be chilly with overnight lows expected to be in the upper-30s.
COOL WEEKEND WITH PLENTY OF SUNSHINE… Mostly sunny skies are expected for both Saturday and Sunday. High temperatures will be in the mid-60s with lows near 40°. This will be much more seasonal than the last few days with temperatures closer to our climatological averages for mid-November.
CALM WEEK AHEAD… Monday could feature a few passing clouds, but there should be quite a bit of sunshine Tuesday into Wednesday of the upcoming week. High temperatures will continue the progressive warming trend, likely reaching 70 degrees by Wednesday. I am not seeing any signs of severe weather or winter weather issues. Good news!
NICE VISIT TO ALLENTOWN YESTERDAY… Thank you to Melinda Holland for inviting me to speak about severe weather safety with the 5th and 6th graders at Central School in Allentown, Florida yesterday. Great group that was super interactive! More info here:
