NICE WEEKEND AHEAD; SHOWERS & STORMS EARLY NEXT WEEK… Nice weekend weather is on tap for south Alabama and northwest Florida. There could be a few showers and storms around on Sunday, but I expect rain chances to remain pretty low (20-30%) with hardly any chance of rain on Saturday. Temperatures will be quite pleasant with high temperatures in the 80s and morning lows in the upper-50s and near 60° in most spots. We’re looking ahead to Monday and Tuesday of the upcoming week when rain chances will rise considerably. We also could have a few thunderstorms in the mix early next week, although severe weather parameters for now look low. Let’s look at a few more details.
SHOWERS & STORMS POSSIBLE MONDAY INTO TUESDAY… Rain chances will likely peak Monday through Wednesday of the upcoming week as a frontal boundary slides across our region. The overall weather pattern during the upcoming week will favor the potential for storms at times, but so far, it remains to be seen whether severe storms will be a possibility. That is something I will be monitoring in the model trends this weekend. I’ll bring you the latest in the RedZone Weather app.
WARMER TEMPS NEXT WEEK… Temperatures will progressively be increasing over the next 7 days. While we have had upper-70s for afternoon highs over the last few days, by this time next week, most spots will be peaking near 90°. By the time we get to Wednesday and Thursday of next week, we actually may be looking at heat index values that could be in the low-90s briefly in the afternoon hours.
APP… If you haven’t already, be sure to download the free RedZone Weather app to keep up with all the latest information on the world of weather in south Alabama and northwest Florida. redzoneweather.com/app is the link for the free download. Once you have the app downloaded to your iOS or Android device, be sure to visit the Alerts tab (lower right corner) and tap the large, yellow Alert Settings button to customize the alerts you would like to receive straight from me.
CARDS FOR THE ELDERLY… Please don’t forget to take advantage of our new RedZone Weather Cards for the Elderly program. We want to be able to safely send as many encouraging cards as possible to our local senior adults in nursing homes. Be sure to visit the link below for all the information. This is an opportunity for students and adults across our region to write encouraging notes to elderly people currently under lockdown in local nursing homes due to the ongoing COVID-19 situation. Here is the link.
