MIRACLE IN A MOBILE HOME… This mobile home off Bush Isle Road south of Gantt in Covington County was heavily damaged by the intense wind in the severe thunderstorm that moved through Sunday night. Miraculously, the two people inside this mobile home during the storm (a lady and a gentleman) survived, although they were injured. Ashley Holland, who sent me this photo, says the outcome of this situation could have been much worse if it weren’t for the two trees you see behind the mobile home. “Those two trees actually prevented this mobile home from plunging straight into the Conecuh River, which is right behind this structure.”

Thankfully, the two home occupants are expected to make a complete recovery.

MOBILE HOMES ARE DEATH TRAPS DURING TORNADOES… This is a classic example of why we consistently tell folks to be OUT of mobile and manufactured homes during tornado warnings. We’ve had 4 tornado fatalities so far this year in Alabama (1 in Marengo County, 3 in Pickens County). **ALL 4 deaths were in manufactured homes.** If you’re in a mobile home or manufactured home, we encourage you to get to a site-built structure, like a neighbor’s home, underground storm shelter, or FEMA-approved tornado safe room if your area goes under a tornado warning.
