ALL CLEAR! TORNADO THREAT HAS DIMINISHED… The best time in a tornado risk is when it comes to an end. That moment is now! We can officially give an ALL CLEAR from the tornado risk across south Alabama and northwest Florida as it appears the secondary round of storms is not materializing. Thunderstorms were so intense this morning and lasted into the afternoon long enough to disrupt the explosive instability values that were expected. Thus, storms tonight simply don’t have much (if any) fuel to use. This is great news! There could be a few showers and thunderstorms through 10PM but overall even that risk is quite low (if not zero) at this point as the atmosphere seems quite worked over and not supportive for more storms.

THANK YOU FOR WATCHING OUR COVERAGE… When we kicked off tornado warning coverage at 4:58AM, I would have been a bit surprised if you told me we would have a five hour round of coverage! Multiple tornadoes and numerous areas of wind damage (mostly trees down) happened across the area. Thank you so much to everyone across Alabama, Florida, and the Deep South for choosing our coverage when tornado warnings and severe thunderstorm warnings are in effect. It has truly been the honor of my life so far to be your meteorologist. We hope you’ll join us again next time we have an active round of weather, which looks it won’t be anytime soon. There is a chance we could have storms around Wednesday or Thursday or next week but severe weather seems a bit unlikely in that event for now.

ENJOY THE WEEKEND… This weekend will be absolutely fantastic in the weather department across south Alabama and northwest Florida. We have sunny skies ahead for Friday with highs in the low-80s. There could be a few clouds on Saturday with perhaps a shower or two around (even that is probably a stretch at this point though). Highs on Saturday will be around the 80 degree mark. Sunshine returns in full force for Sunday into Monday with highs in the low-80s and lows in the 50s. The next chance of rain and storms will happen Wednesday into Thursday of next week but we have plenty of time between now and then to start looking at our next chance of rain and thunderstorms. NICE WEEKEND! Get out and enjoy it.

My next forecast post will be posted by 7:15AM tomorrow (Friday) on Facebook and in the RedZone Weather app. We will keep it super short as we have great weather ahead. Lots of sunshine this weekend!
